Does Ephedrine Work?
How does ephedrine work and does it really lead to fast weight loss? Much has been said about this unique and effective weight loss supplement, both good and bad. The truth is that ephedrine is one of the few fat burners that genuinely works. Of course there are many so-called weight loss and diet pills for sale that do not work, but ephedrine based products have been proven to work time and time again by clinical university studies.
An interesting thing about Ephedrine based supplements is that they seem to only target the fat for calorie burning, so muscle is spared from being burned for energy which means that dieters lose only the fat and that weight lifters and bodybuilders can still build or at least maintain muscle while on a serious cutting phase. They also come with a number of other excellent weight loss benefits. Ephedrine is also thought to work as an appetite suppressant, blocking signals sent between the hypothalamus area of the brain and the stomach that normally lead to hunger. Therefore, it is also much easier to stick with your diet and exercise plans without the typical cravings for food!
Of course it is always best to do your own research and learn exactly what ephedrine is, how it works, and explore the potential side effects. So lets continue!
What is Ephedrine?
Put very simply, ephedrine is an alkaloid found in a traditional medicinal plant called Ephedra. In fact, the term ephedra can technically refer to about 50 different species and varieties of plants. However, when most people discuss this plant or herb they are usually referring to the ephedra sinica variety. This plant, also known as Ma Huang, is native to China and parts of India. It is also considered to be one of the oldest medicinal plants known to man since it has been used by a variety of ancient cultures for healing including the Chinese and the Indians. Ephedrine is extracted from Ephedra, purified and made in to a hydrochloride salt. It then becomes Ephedrine Hcl, the pure form we use for all of our supplements.
Ephedrine Side Effects?
Of course, side effects may result from any kind of supplement. Fortunately, there have been a number of studies conducted that show ephedrine to be very safe when taken in limited doses. It is not recommended to exceed 60 mg per day. It is also always advisable to start with a very small dose and only increase on a very limited and conservative basis thereafter. Some of the side effects associated with ephedrine use can include headaches, restlessness, excessive perspiration, and nausea. There have also been more serious issues such as increased heart beat, seizures, strokes, liver and kidney issues, and even heart attacks. It should be noted that most of these side effects occur when taking these supplements in excessive doses.
